Today I had the privilege of addressing hundreds gathered outside city hall, all fighting to make sure funding for adult literacy is included in the fy14 budget. Adult literacy programs are vital for immigrants of this city as they help with job development and assimilation to life in NYC all while fostering a sense of community in neighborhoods in all 5 boroughs. To join the fight for keeping these programs alive, stop by this Thursday as we rally in front of NMIC to call for New York State to restore funding to the adult literacy, GED and ESL classes that are invaluable to the Washington Heights community. 76 Wadsworth ave. 5:50pm
